One of the most important and yet least appreciated aspect of conducting research, whether in the human resources or any other domain, is the process of identifying and selecting valid samples to study.  From assessing the effectiveness of training programs to measuring the level of employee engagement in an organization, it is often necessary to conduct a smaller study on a sample of employees rather than on the entire employee population.  Usually this is a function of the resources and time available for to conduct the study.

In this webinar, Dr. Jim Higgins will provide an overview of the purpose of sampling in the research process, the most common types of statistical samples and their limitations, the concept of Statistical Power and, finally, how to create samples from larger data sets using Microsoft Excel.
